This project started life when I looked around the
internet for shopping cart software that didn't need a database and
could interface with Paypal as a payment gateway. Everything I found was
enormously complicated, or costly, so the Damn Simple Shop was born.
Its built using Perl as most, if not all, web servers have Perl
installed.
System Requirements
The system requirements you will need to make this work
are as follows:
Browser Requirements
The browser requirements are:
Additional Requirements
-
A Paypal business account
-
An FTP Client for uploading the files
-
The path to the home directory on your webserver
-
An Email account dedicated for the use of the Shop
If your system fulfils these requirements and you you
want something up and running quickly that's easy to use and learn then
the Damn Simple Shop is for you. There are only 3 files to edit to get
yourself up and running. Its advisable that you have the following
experience before you start, if you do then you could see the shop
running in 30 minutes:
-
Knowledge of how to upload files using your FTP client
-
Knowledge of how to create folders
-
Knowledge of how to CHMOD a file
-
Knowledge of CSS to customise the colours (not essential
to getting started)

Try it out here, I've set up a small shop with 4
categories for a make-believe Dog Club:
Shop >>> (new window)
I have disabled the link to Paypal and switched off Emails
Manager >>> (new
window)
Login using ShopManager / password - the username and password both are
case sensitive.
You cannot change any data, or configuration for safety reasons, if you
a try a popup will be displayed telling you this has been disabled.
